I love eating in many different places. But when I find one where I get the perfect treat or food, I become a regular until the place ceases to exist or my a new season causes a temporary switch in the foods I want to excite my taste buds.
My wife found this little place in off of Mills Branch in Kingwood that she told me I had to try. She simply loves their tacos.
“And guess what Egberto,” she said with a big smile. “They have that thing you love.”
“Really? And what would that be?” I asked.
“MENUDO!” she replied. “But you will need to taste it first. You know I am touchy about what I eat.”
Well, the menudo was to die for. In fact, we got the regular size and she availed herself to too much of it. Some people’s menudo is very greasy or funky. It is clear that Kingwood Taco Shop knows what they are doing as it tastes clean and fresh. One does not even need the customary lime with it. It is ready as is.
The owner of the Kingwood Taco Shop is likely the most friendly owner one could meet. He came out to greet us on more than one occasion inquiring to ensure we were enjoying the food. Of course, we were.
The restaurant has become a several Saturdays-a-month ritual. The only difference is I buy a quart of menudo and share a bit with my wife as she eats her taco and I indulge in the menudo.
